PTA Post: Spotlight
Leap into March Arts Festival, 2/27 to 2/29
"Student artists will be able to share something they're proud of and look at their artwork in a new light. They'll see that the community sees the value and importance of the arts."
-Courtney Alan, High School Art Teacher
Brightening the dark days of winter and celebrating the passions of Bronxville students who don't get as much time in the spotlight as our athletes. Those were the goals of the team behind Bronxville's new three-day arts festival. "What I found is that it's very organic how it all happens," said Lia Gravier, who led the team and will serve as PTA Chair next school year. "Committed people start reaching out to people they know, and things come together. This exploded from just this little art gallery event to having an open mic night and a scavenger hunt."
Creating and executing new events for the school community may seem like an overwhelming proposition, but Gravier says the PTA is not impenetrable -- far from it. "There's a misconception that the PTA is a secret society," she says. "If you have a good idea and you want to get involved, all you have to do is reach out. And the wheels can get spinning."
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO TAKE PART IN LEAP INTO MARCH:
