PTA Board: Who's Who?

We're really excited to kick off the year with our new President, Jennnifer Heathwood and the amazing PTA Board Members. Familiarize yourself with
the rest of the board here.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back.

As we begin the new year under the cloud of Covid, I'd like to take a moment to thank our teachers and administrators for working to educate our children in this unprecedented time and ask that we, as a community, do everything we can to keep our school safe and open.  Please remind your children of the protocols we have in place, particularly proper mask wearing, washing hands, and closely monitoring symptoms and staying home if any symptoms present themselves.  The administration also encourages taking a Covid test, if possible, before returning to school tomorrow.

Dr. Montessano sent a letter on Friday with back to school details, which I have copied below.  Some parents have also asked about protocols if a household member tests positive.  I know this information was included in previous emails, but I confirmed with Dr. Kelly: "Fully vaccinated individuals do not need to be quarantined if they're a close contact but must closely monitor for symptoms and stay home if present with any symptom."

If you ever have any Covid protocol questions, or to report a positive case, please reach out to our school health office at You can also contact Dr. Rachel Kelly, Assistant Superintendent and Covid Coordinator at with any questions. You should contact your child's principal if you need to arrange for remote learning, which is offered only for those students that are on mandatory quarantine.

Please click here to sign your child(ren) for the free weekly PCR testing program offered in partnership with Mt. Sinai Hospital.  I encourage everyone to sign up.  The test is simple to administer, with a saliva sample collected at home and dropped off the following morning.

Here is a link to the original letter from the district on October 8, with our Covid testing program details.  Please note, once you sign up, it can take up to 10 days for your child to be registered.

I expect that more information will be coming from the Administration and Principals and your child's teachers and coaches as the week progresses.  In the meantime, wishing you a happy and healthy start to the new year.

Be well,

Jennifer Heathwood
